13th December 2015, All Saints Church, Headley

Our concert in Headley told the story of how Christmas music evolved from the 16th to the 21st Century and included two world premieres; Jane Palmer's Dormi, Jesu! and Jennette Wickes's Lullay Lulla. They were joined by Aly Paterson's Puer Nobis Nascitur to make a remarkable section sequence in which we had the three composers taking their bows.  We also showed how many  favourite carols originated in the middle ages as dance tunes. We were raising money for the renovation of the electrical system in All Saints Church.

3rd October 2015 at St. Joan of Arc Church, Farnham

A  concert of sacred music from the 19th and 20th Century which we dedicated to our co-founder Bob Warren. Highlights included the premiere of John Broom's intriguing choral arrangement of Rachmaninoff's C# minor prelude and  four of John Gardner's lovely "Six American Hymns in a Free Style".  We were joined by Mike Smith on organ, and he did an immaculate job accompanying and playing  solos. Despite clashing with a crucial World Cup rugby match, the concert resulted in a significant donation being made to The Fountain Centre.

"From the Sublime to the Ridiculous"

A full and most appreciative house in this gorgeous Victorian Church, with stunning canapes served in the interval. Raising money for the Church to have a new sound system. First performances of the choir's own arrangements of Cole Porter songs from High Society as well as John Broom's unique and scurrilous take on some great romantic piano concertos and the relationship between Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Also a brief lesson on the development of written music from the 13th Century to the Baroque.

Thank you Milland, we'd love to come back!

- "For the Fallen"

H. Rex Freston 1891-1916

Performed with actors from Alton Fringe Theatre, our concert 'For the Fallen' commemorated the outbreak of  World War 1 with words and music. Our men's rendition of a hitherto unknown verse of Long Way To Tipperary brightened a reflective evening, while Chris's setting of Rex Freston's poems delighted and the ending - Elgar's 'Lux Aeterna' - sent shivers down the spine.

H. Rex Freston, died in France after only six weeks, January 24th, 1916, age 25.

"This poet is a soldier now. My lords, I fear he's gone to sleep."
